The Basics

Why should I add a picture or avatar?

You don't have to. It just helps us connect and identify the people providing us ideas and feedback in the community. It's your choice.


Why should I complete my profile?

There may be a couple of required questions for us to identify you, otherwise you don't have to. It helps us understand the people sharing with us and understanding our participants. It's also a great way for other people in the community to connect with you. You'll be surprised how your response to a profile question can generate conversation.


What do you do with my personal info that I enter into my profile?

We will use your information to assist us in describing the people we reach, ideal customers and explaining the feedback we receive in the community. We do not sell your information or share it with other entities for solicitation purposes. That's a promise.


Can I prevent people from knowing I'm online? What are my privacy options?

Your privacy is important to us. We offer a variety of options for you to protect your privacy. First, this is a closed community, so no one outside of the community will be able to see what transpires here. Second, we never provide your full name or email address to anyone. Third, you control what information you make available in your profile. You may set your profile as public, friends only or private at any time. Even if you choose to have your profile public, it's only public to the select group of participants in the community and a few staff people sponsoring and facilitating the community. To control your privacy, visit your 'edit profile' section via the link on your home page. Always remember to exercise caution when giving out your personal information.

Features

How do I upload photos?

You can upload a photo from the 'Home' menu or in the Photos area. There are two steps. First, select the photo(s) you want to upload from your computer by clicking "Browse" and click "Upload". Then you can add titles, descriptions and tags to each of the photos you uploaded.


How do I reply to topics?

Simply click the 'reply' button. It will open a space for you to write your comment or response. Then click "Submit Reply". You can also preview your reply before you post it


Can I see other people's profiles? Can they see mine?

Yes you can, and yes they can, depending on your settings. When you login you can update your account settings from your home page and determine which parts of your profile you want private, public, or to be shared only with your connections. Remember, if your posts and comments are kept private, other members will not be able to give you Kudos or recognition.


What is 'Mark Offensive'?

We want this to be a community where you can honestly share your opinions and thoughts. That is why we invited you here. If you feel something is inappropriate or offensive and should not have been shared in the community, this link will notify our staff. Someone will review the post, picture, message to determine if it is legitimately offensive. If so, this content will be removed from the site.


Can I delete comments/replies I posted on someone's topic?

Yes. There will be a Delete link underneath any of your posts. You can only delete posts that you yourself have created. But before you post any comment, be sure to preview it first before publishing. It's still possible someone might have read it.


How do I delete comments someone left on my wall?

Next to every comment on your wall, you will see an X icon. Click it to delete that message.


How do I include pictures in my posts?

When posting, click on the Insert/Edit Image icon on the menu bar of the text editor. Select the desired image from your computer. Always make sure you preview your post to make sure the picture or any other HTML you've used works correctly! You can add video as well.


How do I delete a post?

There will be a 'Delete' link underneath any of your posts. You can only delete posts that you yourself have created


How do I edit a post?

Your forum posts will have an 'Edit' link next to them. Your blogs will also have an 'Edit' link and you can see your blogs by clicking 'Your Blogs' under the dashboard menu.


What are Email Notifications? What is the difference between "email" and "private message"?

An email notification sends an email to the email address you use to login. A private message goes to the inbox of a Fortalent member. You can send a message to a user by going to their profile page and clicking 'Send a Message' next to their avatar.


How does private messaging work? And who can I message?

Private messaging allows you to send a message to anyone in the community. The message can be read from their Message Center in the community, not their personal email accounts.


What is the Idea Center?

This is an area for you to share your ideas for the site, a product, service, or anything that comes to mind. Other members in the community can review your idea, comment and vote on it. We look at the ideas presented here as well as your specific responses to our questions.
