Casting Call: Casting for The Perils of Obedience

| Itziar Barrio (creator) is casting the North American premiere of "The Perils of Obedience," a performance art piece. Niegel Smith, dir.; Mungioli Theatricals, Inc., casting dir. Performance will be videotaped in front of a live audience Nov. 2 & 3, 7:30-9:30 p.m. at the Abrons Arts Center in NYC (the callback audition is the performance piece, and is by invitation only; actors invited to callbacks must be available to stay the full time for both evenings). Seeking—Talented Performance Artists/Actors: any gender, age, or ethnicity, must be comfortable devising new text and movement, it is essential that candidates have a strong sense of their own voice, limits and abilities, since the final performance will be built around their impulses. Casting dir. states: "Candidates selected will work with an award-winning team of directors, film makers and visual artists. The piece is a framework for questioning the roles of power inherent in the creative process." Open call auditions will be held Oct. 31 & Nov. 1, at noon and 2 p.m. at the Abrons Arts Center, 466 Grand St.(at Pitt St.), NYC. Directions: Take the F train to Delancey Street, the J or M trains to Essex Street, or the D or B trains to Grand Street. No need to prepare any text in advance. The initial audition will consist of a rapid series of questions, possibly a cold reading, and theater exercises with the director. Initial auditions will be videotaped.
