Daily Update 3/31/10

Hello Everyone,

Here is what I have on my radar for you:

Comic book artists and writers, Marvel Comics illustrator Shawn Martinbrough will unveil and signs Luke Cage Noir, a hardcover collection of issues 1–4 of his acclaimed miniseries tomorrow night at the Powerhouse Arena.

Authors, Areva Martin will be reading from The Everyday Advocate at Borders tomorrow at 7, and McNally Jackson Booksellers will celebrate the beginning of National Poetry Month with readings by Featuring Henri Cole, Kimiko Hahn, and Ed Sanders.

The Brooklyn Academy of Music Opera Festival will go through April 2. This 16-day event is the brainchild of early music conductor William Christie, who's selected Purcell's The Fairy Queen, as the festival's centerpiece. The festival also introduces Baroque Cabaret, a series of stripped-down productions presented intimately and affordably at BAMcafe.

Writers, Ed2010.com is hosting a class on April 8 that focuses on how to break into writing about food and becoming a food critic.

Filmmakers, the deadline for the Vila do Conde International Short Film Festival is April 14, and the deadlines for both the Munich Film Festival and the Message To Man International Film Festival are April 15.

-Giselle
