Calling All Dancers and Filmmakers
DANCE FILMS ASSOCIATION (DFA) is a not for profit organization that is dedicated to furthering the art of dance on film. "Connecting artists and organizations, fostering new works for new audiences, and sharing essential resources, DFA seeks to be a catalyst for innovation in and preservation of dance on camera."
It's a great organization and if you are a dancer or a filmmaker interested in dance, you should check out either their LAB or scroll down further to see their post production funding for any Dance on FIlm project that you might have. Finishing funds people!
DFA's Dance Film Lab
July 11, 7-9 pm
Dance New Amsterdam
280 Broadway and Chambers Street. NYC, NY
Monday's event will be a moderated screening. Dance filmmakers are encouraged to present raw footage, drafts, works-in-progress and newly finished films to their peers for artist-centered, constructive feedback.
If you are interested in screening your work, please email zach@thirdrailprojects.com
"I was actually so inspired by the experience that I wrote the beginnings of a screenplay on the train on my way home. Shortly thereafter, I founded my own dance film production company, DANCELEN(D)S.
That lab really helped me to move forward on the goals I had to explore dance film in my own way – and so I just wanted to reach out and say thank you! We’re looking forward to many more to come!"
-Jennifer Madison
The 25,000-square-foot facility includes an intimate 130-seat theater, six dance and rehearsal studios and two gallery spaces for exhibitions and receptions. This allows DNA to serve the needs of the professional, pre-professional and amateur community like no other venue.
